Getting Started

How does The Family Chef service work?

On the same day each week we match you with a personal chef who comes to your home on a set weekly day. They handle everything—menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking in your kitchen, and cleaning up—so you have fresh, homemade meals ready to enjoy all week.

What does a typical service day look like?

On the same day each week your chef arrives with groceries, cooks your customized menu in your kitchen, packages everything, and leaves your kitchen spotless.

Do I need to be home while the chef is there?

No! Many of our clients are not home. We’ll coordinate access in a way that feels comfortable for you.

Food & Menu

How are menus created?

A large diverse menu is sent out to the clients each month for them to choose what they would like. If you have dietary restrictions, allergies, preferences, or requests, your family’s chef will edit your recipes accordingly.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or picky eaters?

Absolutely. We regularly work with gluten-free, dairy-free, low-carb, allergy-friendly diets, and picky eaters.

What types of meals can you prepare?

Everything from family dinners to breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and even items like protein muffins, granola bars, and healthy grab-and-go options.

Do we choose the meals?

Yes! You’ll approve your menu ahead of time so everything fits your family’s tastes.

Pricing & Packages

How much does it cost?

Our services start at a 4-hour minimum ($280) plus the cost of groceries. Most families fall between $380–$449/week total depending on food preferences.

What does the minimum service include?

A 4-hour service typically includes grocery shopping and about 3 family dinners (4 portions each).

Do you offer one-time services?

Yes! We offer a one-time service starting at $449, which is perfect for trying us out or gifting to a loved one.

How much do groceries cost?

Groceries typically range from $100–$165 depending on your menu, preferences and how many grocery items you already have on hand.

In-Home Experience

Will the chef clean up after cooking?

Yes—your kitchen will be left clean and tidy, just like we found it (or better!).

What do I need to have in my kitchen?

A standard working kitchen is perfect. We’ll let you know if anything specific is needed ahead of time.

Are your chefs trained and vetted?

Yes. All of our chefs are experienced, background-checked, and trained in The Family Chef standards of hospitality and professionalism.

Scheduling & Flexibility

How often can I schedule a chef?

Most clients book weekly, but we can customize frequency—once a week, twice a week, or occasional services.

Can I pause or skip a week?

Yes! We understand schedules change—just give us advance notice. Each client gets 3 free skips and then clients will be charged a retainer fee of 70% of their typical service costs to hold their cook day spot.

What days and times do chefs come?

We schedule consistent weekday daytime slots (no evenings or weekends).

Storage & Serving

How are meals stored?

Meals are packaged according to your preferences. Whether you want your meals in glass containers, individually portioned, family meal portioned, we are happy to accommodate whatever works best for you!

How long do meals last?

Most meals stay fresh for 4–5 days. We can also prepare freezer-friendly options if needed.

Extras & Special Services

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! Our one-time service makes a perfect gift for new moms, busy families, or special occasions.

Can you help with parties or special events?

Although we do not cater, we can customize services for small gatherings, meal prep before events, or hosting support.

Do you offer cooking classes?

Yes! Send us an email via the portal for more information.
